⚠️ Co-payment is mandatory — not optional

Co-payment is a central government mandate now enforced by all banks. For loans up to ₹2 lakh / 3kW systems, a minimum 10% co-payment of total project cost is required. For loans above ₹2 lakh, a 20% co-payment is mandatory. The solar system itself is the only collateral needed — no additional property pledge required.

3

Customer action

30%

Installation, commissioning and EPC service component — taxed at 18% GST.

~8.9%

Effective blended GST

The effective GST for the entire project. GST-registered businesses can claim full input tax credit, reducing net project cost. As per CBIC Circular 163/19/2021-GST.

⚠️ Important: 100% loan is NOT available

Some vendors advertise 100% solar loans or offer to absorb the co-payment from the subsidy amount. This is illegal and a misuse of public bank funds. As per standing GOI instructions, 10% or 20% co-payment is mandatory and banks are not permitted to disburse loans beyond those thresholds.

Vendors who inflate quotation amounts to artificially absorb the co-payment are committing deliberate bank fraud. If detected, this leads to legal action against both vendor and customer, and cancellation of vendorship — directly affecting warranty support for affected customers.

Banks now mandate subsidy credit to loan accounts only, not savings accounts. Any malpractice in this regard also attracts penal action. Always go the legal way — everything about loan and subsidy is publicly available on the concerned parties' official websites.

(Malayalam)

Quick FAQs

Solar loan — common questions.

Is income proof required for a 3kW loan?

No income proof required for basic solar loans up to ₹2 lakh / 3kW. Only KSEB bill, Aadhaar, PAN, passport photo and property tax receipt needed.

How long does the full loan process take?

Approximately 60–120 days end-to-end: 7–15 days for sanction, 14 days for installation, 15–30 days for KSEB net-meter commissioning, and 30–90 days for subsidy credit.

Will my EMI change after subsidy?

Yes. The first 2–3 EMIs are on the full loan. After subsidy is credited to the loan account (usually within 30–90 days), the bank restructures and reduces your EMI on the remaining balance.

Is property collateral required?

No. The solar power plant itself is hypothecated as the only collateral. Your home, land or other property is not pledged.
